Imelda Richardson, Chief Inspector for Care and Social Services Wales, said:
It is a great day for older people with the Deputy Minister for Social Services’ announcement on the Declaration of the Rights of Older People. We are very proud as the Care and Social Services Inspectorate in Wales to be the first country to have this declaration.
Safeguarding the human rights for older people is close to our hearts and a huge part of our work. We have changed the way we inspect and no longer inspect against standards but inspect against outcomes for people and their quality of life. This declaration will help further strengthen our work to ensure older people receive the highest quality of care they deserve.
