Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales publish Local Authority Performance Evaluation reports

We have today published an individual evaluation report for each Local Authority on the performance of social services in their area.

The reports are part of the annual council reporting framework introduced in 2009-10. This framework also includes the requirement, as set out in statutory guidance, for the director of social services to report annually on the delivery, performance and risk of the whole range of social services functions.

We draw together a range of evidence to support its review and analysis of performance. This includes the evidence from our inspections and reviews; the underpinning evidence submitted in support of the directors’ reports; information and intelligence from other inspectorates; and evidence from the performance measurement framework and other statistics.

An overview of the key themes which emerge from these evaluations will be produced for inclusion in the Chief Inspector’s Annual Report. The Annual Report will be published in the New Year.

We have asked councils to make arrangements for the inspectorate to present the evaluation to their relevant scrutiny committee.
