Welsh Language Standards come into force today (March 30)

The new Standards replace the former Welsh Language Scheme.

The Standards have been created to give Welsh speakers improved, enforceable rights in relation to the Welsh language by imposing standards on organisations around service provision, policy making, operations, promotion and record keeping.

Chief Inspector Imelda Richardson said:

We have worked hard on our bilingual responsibilities and the Welsh Language Standards will ensure that Welsh has an equal priority across our work. On our website you will find details of our services in Welsh from our application forms, newsletters, and inspections for Welsh speaking care services.
