First batch of new certificates for childcare providers issued this week

Your new certificate will show the number of children you’re registered to care for.

From 1 April 2016 the age range for registration of childcare and play in Wales was extended from 8 to 12 years.

Earlier this year we wrote to childcare providers informing you of these changes.

Soon you will receive your new certificate. This will be done in stages, so don’t worry if you haven’t had it yet.

For day care and play providers, your new certificate will include.

  • the maximum children you are registered to care for.

The requirement for a certificate of registration to contain the name of the Person in Charge (PIC) where one has been appointed has been removed.

For child minders, your new certificate will include:

  • the maximum children you are registered to look after (this will include your own children and others you are responsible for)
  • the registered address where you will look after children.

Other conditions may apply depending on your circumstances, and our assessment of your registration/variation.

If your certificate is incorrect, please get in touch with your regional office immediately.

You may have to apply to vary your numbers, if you haven’t done so already.
