We’re writing to all childcare and play providers in Wales this month to let them know that they should complete their SASS online from 11th July.
Why do we need this information?
We are required to inspect registered services. In order to assist with our inspection of childcare and play services, and monitor compliance with the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010, we require providers to complete a SASS.
We will be collecting the SASS in two parts:
- Part one: the annual data collection in July 2016; and,
- Part two: Review of Quality Care later in 2016.
Some sections of the SASS part one must be completed with information collected during the week of:
- 11th to 15th July for term time childcare providers or
- 1st to 5th August for holiday childcare providers only
SASS does not replace the need to notify us or submit changes. All notifications and variations should be submitted through the normal process.
When is the deadline?
If you are a childcare or play provider, you must complete SASS part one by 17th August.
Please make sure you read through the SASS as there are certain questions that need to be answered at certain times.
Have I got an account already?
If you are a child minder who varied your numbers online, you may already have an account. Click ‘forgotten password’ on the page to reset your password. If you have never used CSSIW Online, follow the instructions in your letter/on screen.
Before you start
Before you start the SASS, ensure that you have to hand updated information on the following:
- First Aid certificates with dates
- Qualifications for staff
- DBS checks with dates
- Food hygiene certificates
- Child protection certificates
I haven’t received a letter
