Issue with UK Government letter to childcare providers

Some Tax-Free Childcare letters contain the wrong user ID.

Last month the UK Government launched its Childcare Choices website (External link), providing information on the new Tax-Free Childcare scheme.

Childcare providers need to sign up in order to receive Tax-Free Childcare payments from parents.

Many providers in Wales have already done so. If you haven’t yet signed up to the scheme, now is the time to act.

The UK Government has confirmed that Tax-Free Childcare will be introduced on 28 April and will then be gradually rolled out over 2017, with parents of children under two invited to enter the scheme first.

UK Government is sending letters to all registered childcare providers who have yet to sign up to remind them there is still time to do so.

We have been informed by the UK Government that they are aware that some sign up reminder letters have been sent with the wrong user ID.

If you’re getting repeated error messages when trying to sign up, you could be one of the childcare providers affected. The UK Government has re-sent reminder letters to affected providers with the correct user ID, and these should now have arrived, so you will be able to sign up.

If you have any doubts as to whether the letter you have is genuine, visit the Gov.UK website (External link). If you haven’t received a letter, contact the dedicated helpline on 0300 123 4097.

Childcare providers can read the UK Government toolkit (External link) for more information and material about Childcare Choices.

Parents can register for email alerts that will notify them when they can apply for Tax-Free Childcare.
