Ten care homes, including independent, third sector and local authority services, three care domiciliary agencies and an extra care facility joined together on November 28 to organise an afternoon of Christmas activities and entertainment for around 190 people.
People who use services and staff took part in decorating their own tables, singing, dancing, quizzes, raffles and watching a magician.
Previously, the individual services organised their own events but this was the first time they all joined together at Christmas.
Gillian Baranski said:
This was an excellent opportunity to hear directly from providers about the work they are doing, as well as some of their concerns; particularly encouraging was the positive feedback about our provider events.
But the very best part was the privilege of sitting and talking to people receiving services, to hear about their appreciation of the work of their carers as well as their loneliness at times, and to share the joy of others who were simply enjoying the party.
Thank you very much for inviting me and I wish everyone who attended a very Merry Christmas.
