We process and treat information we receive from people who use services, those who run or work at a care service and others as confidential.

Why we process personal and sensitive personal data

We are responsible for inspecting social care and social services to make sure that they are safe for the people who use them. We inspect services registered with us to check that they provide safe care.

How we use your personal and sensitive personal data

We will process personal information we hold about you fairly and lawfully. We will only ask for information where it is necessary for us to carry out our role.

In some cases we may share information with other organisations where required by law. We may also share the information with other organisations where it is necessary and in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. This includes:

  • Local Authorities and other public organisations
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Care Council for Wales
  • Nursing and Midwifery Council
