Changes to how we enforce

Our new policy about what we do if a provider does not provide a service within the law, came into force 1 May 2018.

We have made changes to how we enforce. We have introduced a new policy ‘Securing Improvement and Enforcement’. This sets out our approach to enforcement and the processes we will follow. It replaces our previous guidance.

What are the changes?

  • We have new increased powers in securing, improvement and enforcement under the new Regulation and Inspection of Social Care Act 2016 (External link), which came into force in April 2018.
  • A new approach to how we make our decisions about securing and improvement.
