Childcare and play online – suspended services
We are telephoning some suspended childcare and play services to ensure they create an online account with us, if they wish to remain registered.
On 6 January 2020, CIW Online was launched for all childcare and play providers.
This means services must carry out all their business with us through CIW Online, including applications for registration; variations; notifications; and completion of the Self-Assessment of Service Statement (SASS) when requested to do so.
We also share information directly with providers through their CIW Online account.
Why we are contacting providers
In July 2020, we wrote to all registered services which were suspended during the months of October and November last year, when we first informed childcare and play providers about CIW Online.
We asked providers to contact us to create their CIW Online account, regardless of whether they were providing a service or not.
There are still a number of suspended services that have not created their online accounts and we have started telephoning those suspended services to ensure they create an account, or voluntarily cancel the service if they no longer want to remain registered.
Even if you have previously created an online account, you will still need to call CIW to activate it before you start using our online services.
Important
If having used all contact methods available to us, CIW has not been able to make contact with a provider, and has not received a response to the letter and subsequent emails, we may consider taking action to cancel the provider’s registration. Cancellation by CIW may have consequences if the provider wishes to work with children in the future.
Please call us if you haven’t yet created a CIW Online account for your service, to ensure the service remains registered with us.
