The review looked at the multi‑agency response to abuse and neglect of children in Wales’s six regional safeguarding board areas between 2019 and 2024.
These Joint Inspections of Child Protection Arrangements were a cross-inspectorate piece of work by CIW, His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) and Estyn.
Inspections took place in Newport (2019), Neath Port Talbot (2021), Denbighshire (2023), Bridgend (2023), Powys (2023) and Cardiff (2024).
