We have published our Chief Inspector’s annual report 2019-20
Our annual report outlines our work throughout the previous year.
The 2019-20 annual report shows that we regulated 5,873 services, and carried out 2,297 inspections across adult and children’s services, and childcare and play in Wales.
The report also highlights how we worked with providers to improve the quality and safety of services. 72% of Adult & Children’s Services and 85% of childcare and play services that were not compliant with the law improved by our next inspection.
Impact of COVID-19
Whilst this annual report covers the period up until the end of March 2020, it’s important to acknowledge the impact of COVID-19 on people who use and work in social care and childcare and play services in Wales.
During the pandemic we significantly increased our contact with service providers to offer support and assurance on the quality and safety of these services.
Chief Inspector Gillian Baranski said:
I want to recognise the exceptional commitment and dedication of all those working in social care and childcare and play services in Wales during the pandemic. On behalf of Care Inspectorate Wales, I should like to express our admiration and deepest thanks.
