We have today published a letter summarising the findings of our November 2021 monitoring activity undertaken in Denbighshire County Council children’s services

The intention of monitoring activity is to provide assurance that the local authority remains on a positive journey of improvement.

In November 2021, we conducted an inspection of Denbighshire County Council’s children’s services. This to seek assurance that improvements were being made, following an Assurance Check held between 28 June and 02 July 2021, whereby serious concerns were raised about some aspects of children’s services.

Evidence of progress was apparent, although the speed at which this has taken effect has been hampered by the significant challenges the local authority has faced in recruiting to its Social Services department, reflecting the wider national challenges of recruiting to health and social care.

We have drawn the attention of the local authority to our findings.  We will monitor progress through on-going performance evaluation activity.
