We have published our new childcare and play self-reporting data tool
The childcare and play self-reporting data tool provides a range of useful information from 2790 registered providers.
Earlier this year we collected a range of information and data from all registered childcare and play providers in Wales through the Self Assessment of Service Statement (SASS) process. This information, combined with data from previous years has enabled us to create this visualisation tool.
The data tool provides a range of useful information from staff training and qualifications to the quality frameworks in use. The tool also outlines the number of people working in the childcare and play sector and the number of vacancies.
Kevin Barker, Head of Childcare and Play Inspection at CIW commented:
I am delighted that we can now publish this important data on the childcare and play sector in Wales. I would like to thank each and every one of the 2790 providers who gave up their time to share this vital information with us.
Earlier this year Welsh Government published their Independent Review of Childminding (External link) which outlined some key recommendations to tackle the decline in the number of childminders across Wales. We continue to work with them and our partners to ensure we are doing everything we can to support the childcare and play sector in Wales to flourish.
Here’s a summary of some of the data we have gathered:
