Completing your Self Assessment of Service Statement (SASS): Childcare and play services

Information about your SASS.

Childcare and Play is going online from 6 January 2020. CIW Online (External link).

All childcare and play providers must complete and submit their SASS online. Only the Responsible Individual or Registered Person can complete the SASS.

Between 4 November and 18 November, letters will be sent to all childcare and play providers to inform them they will need to create and activate their CIW Online account in preparation for completing the SASS.

CIW Online will be available for you to complete and submit the SASS from 6 January 2020. The deadline to submit the SASS is 4 February 2020. As this is a regulatory requirement of the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010 (Regulation 17), failure to submit the SASS will mean that you will not be complying with the law. This may affect your rating at inspection and enforcement action may be taken.

I have a question about the SASS questions. Where can I get help?

If you have a question about the SASS questions, you should contact the provider/member organisations who will assist you with any questions you may have. They will support any individual irrespective of being a member of that group.

I am cancelling or voluntarily suspending my service. Do I need to complete the SASS?

If you write to us to voluntary cancel or suspend your service before 4 February 2020 you do not need to complete the SASS
