Making a difference: Achieving good outcomes for children, young people and their families in Wales
Findings from an all Wales review of Children in Need 2012-13.
- Some local authorities are seeking to transform Children’s Social Services by restoring the focus on the social work relationship and the skills and professional judgement of social workers.
- Social work practice at times is overall bureaucratic and focused on systems rather than people.
- Social work practitioners recognised the need to receive training and support to engage effectively with children and families.
- Children and young people and their families reported that their relationships with social workers were poor. This relationship is critical to achieving good outcomes for children and young people.
