The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 requires service providers to submit an annual return.
The 2016 Act requires registered service providers to submit an annual return following the end of each financial year.
- Care home services, residential family centre services, secure accommodation services and domiciliary support services - the first set of annual returns must be submitted by 27 May 2020.
- Fostering services, adoptions services, advocacy services and adult placement services - the first set of annual return must be by 27 May 2021.
- Service Providers will have 56 days after the end of the financial year to submit their annual return.
The information to be contained within an annual return is set out within the Regulated Services (Annual Returns) (Wales) Regulations 2017.
CIW will provide an online template for the annual return. Further guidance on the information to be submitted within the annual return will be available in due course.
Statement of Compliance
You will be required to provide a statement of compliance within your annual return. This should outline how your organisation meets the standards of care and support set out within the regulations.
The Responsible Individual (RI) will be required to prepare this statement of compliance. When preparing the statement the RI must have regard to the outcome of the latest quality of care review.
Our quality of care review report template (link) has been designed to support the RI to complete their statement of compliance, for inclusion within the annual return.
