Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) – Draft monitoring and reporting strategy
We are currently consulting on our draft monitoring and reporting strategy for the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
The Welsh Government consultation on the Liberty Protection Safeguards launched on the 17 March. Details of the Welsh Government consultation, and additional resources on LPS can be found on their website (External link).
In Wales, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), and for education settings, Estyn, will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the operation of the LPS.
Our draft strategy describes how we will discharge our responsibilities for monitoring and reporting LPS. This will inform Welsh Ministers, and people in Wales, how LPS is working in practice and help keep standards high.
We welcome your feedback on the draft strategy.
How to respond
We have developed a short survey (External link) to capture your views. The survey covers the following three questions:
- Do you think the approach to monitoring and reporting on the Liberty Protection Safeguards is clear in the strategy?
- Will the approach help to provide assurance that Liberty Protection Safeguards are being implemented appropriately in Wales?
- Is there anything we have missed and should be included?
The deadline for your submitting your response is 14 July 2022.
For more information about the strategy, or our role in monitoring and reporting on LPS, please contact us.
