Deputy Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales
Who am I?
My name is Margaret Rooney and I am the Deputy Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales.
What do I do?
I was appointed as Deputy Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales on 22 April 2019.
I originally joined Care Inspectorate Wales (then known as CSSIW) as an Area Manager in May 2013, and held a number of roles including Regional Director, leading on the implementation of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and Head of Registration and Enforcement.
My areas of interest and/or experience
I began my career as a secondary school teacher before moving to Wales in 2002 where I worked in children’s services at Blaenau Gwent County Council. I subsequently worked in youth justice as the Head of Performance Improvement at the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales.
What’s important to me
Obviously, my family are the most important thing to me so having quality time with them is important. In my career, making a difference for people is what gets me up in the morning.
